The Carriage
The carriage is like a typical lift truck as the lifting attachment can be tilted backwards and forwards from its horizontal. The tilt that is possible on this machine exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There are various types of available lifting attachments, and this ability to position makes them as efficient as possible.
Most telehandlers could tilt forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! In addition, a lot of models offer rotating carriages also. This allows the operator to radially adjust the lifting attachment. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted backwards and forwards, as well as side to side.
Load Capacity
Telehandlers have a load capacity quite similar to that of the vertical mast model. The unit's overall capacity will be dependent on things such as: the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable and boom extension and angle, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires. As well, which lifting attachment plays a really important role, as does the wind, the grade the machinery is operating on etc. All of these specifics can be changing constantly and this gives the operator a lot more information to take into consideration.
Usually, telehandlers have several load charts available in order for the operator to reference so they could know the load capacity of a certain lift. Depending upon the configuration of the boom and the unit in particular, the load capacity may vary by thousands of pounds all together.
