Forklift trucks are important pieces of machines used widely in business, particularly within warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial plants. A lift truck is made of hundreds of parts, such as the cab, the carriage, the power source, the wheels and the engine. Lift trucks generally have a range of attachments also. The following are a few of the most important components of a lift truck.
Engine of the Lift Truck - At the rear of the machinery, the forklift has its power source. The various kinds of engine on the lift truck would require varying power sources. Like for instance, a forklift with an IC engine can have as its power source any of the following: CNG gas, LP gas, gasoline or diesel. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the forklift truck and the most essential of all the lift truck parts is the frame of the truck. This forms the core of the equipment. All other forklift components are attached to the base, like the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Components - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the equipment to be balanced. This specific component is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck provides balance and may function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also referred to as the operator compartment. Forklifts would sometimes have closed cabs whilst others will be open to the air. There are lots of parts located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential components like the operator controls, steering wheel, seats, pedals, switches and levers. The dashboard has operator readouts.
