Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to stock up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck is available in several models: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is commonly utilized. This version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in multiple directions. This particular model is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In the majority of warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
