Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn within the aisle. There are several aisle widths to consider with various units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could work in less than 6 feet areas, while some would use specific guidance systems like optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some various models of VNA trucks include Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are common models in compact retail areas and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks could operate within aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Normally these are stand-up models like for instance Reach Trucks. They are often used within warehouses and storage facilities.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard that is made to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is spacious and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent entry and exit. The model consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and thus more productive while limiting fatigue.
